Our Why

HOW IT STARTED

In the spring of 2013, several ladies in a bible study class on the book of JAMES, which urges believers to live out their faith through practical actions, decided they wanted to do more than just talk about helping feed children. One of the members was familiar with a program at the beach and after some discussion and prayer, a trip was planned to Garden City, SC to talk with the director of Help 4 Kids-Horry County Nonprofit for children. It was during that trip that H4K Florence was discussed and formed. We thank that organization for sharing their mission and plans and getting H4K Florence off the ground.

With four volunteers, one generous donor and a donated workspace, H4K Florence began serving 193 bags of food to six FSD1 schools.

We had many individuals and businesses that donated their time and energy in the early stages and we continue to give thanks for all they did to help us get off to a good start!
